Fundamentals Of Survival
Having the tools for survival will be useless unless you know how to use them. So, make sure that you know how to use the tools at your disposal. It’s always good to be prepared. You don’t have to wait for something to happen for you to be ready. You might’ve lost yourself in the woods on some camping trip, maybe you just wanted to put your survival skills to test, or just in case you run out of toilet paper. Whatever the reason might be, you want to be able to survive it. So, it might be a good idea to know the fundamentals of survival and how to prepare yourself accordingly.
You can’t survive without water. Humans can go without water for three days, but most will barely make it to the second day. You must drink water to be able to fuel your body consistently. You’ll need to hydrate yourself even more in certain types of weather, so you must be well equipped. A stainless steel water bottle (that can also be used to boil water) and a stock of water purification tablets will be ideal for survival.
As mentioned before, you need to be able to put the tools you have into use. Therefore, you want to know how to build a shelter and protect yourself from your surroundings and lousy weather conditions. The ideal situation would be if you already have your accommodation with you and all you need to do is build it.
Alternatively, a heavy-duty trash bag along with “building materials” you can find in nature could be useful in building your own shelter.
A fire has so many advantages, especially when finding yourself in survival mode. It is a way to purify your water, keep predators away, cook food, signals for help, and much more.
Because most of us don’t have the skills to make fire by rubbing two sticks together, it would be smart to equip yourself with the right tools to make a fire in any condition. Even if you know how to make fire with two sticks, it would be challenging in certain types of weather.
Maybe not as important as water, and yet, you don’t want to be weak from starving. If you want to survive you have to make sure you’re strong and nurtured. The human body can survive for three weeks without food, don’t challenge it. Pack yourself with either protein bars, survival food kits, or even rice, along with having knowledge of how and what to cook in nature, could save your life.
Along with the fundamentals, you should also consider having these three items:
Even the smallest knife will help you to stay alive. Consider spending the most amount of money on this.
First Aid Kit
There’s nothing worst than being injured in emergency situations. A first aid kit is always good to have regardless of surviving in nature.
I can’t imagine you carrying your survival kit with your bare hands.
